Principals News
Dear Families,
The busy season is definitely with us, with lots happening at school, at the moment and over the last 2 weeks of this school year.
Colour Run
Two weeks ago, we were thrilled to have a perfect day for our Colour Run. The catch cry of the day was "fun, fun, fun!" Thank you to the School Association for their organisation and to all the parents, staff and students who volunteered to help. Along with the Bake Sale, Raffle, and second-hand uniform sales, this was a fantastic fundraising event for our school. Students are now waiting eagerly for their prizes to arrive. We are very appreciative that almost $7000 was raised to go towards essential items for our school, such as the P-2 Water Orientation Program.
Celebration of Learning – Open Afternoon
This week we welcomed many families to our classrooms to celebrate learning throughout 2024. Students shared work samples and joined with their family members in games and activities including reading routines, origami, maths games and soft toy making. Thank you to everyone who came along.
Athletics Achievement
Congratulations to Madeleine, one of our amazing year 6 students, who has won a Bronze Medal at the National Athletics Championship (12yr old girls) for the Tetrathlon (100m, long jump, shot put and 800m).
Thank you to our Volunteers!
International Volunteers Day is observed globally on December 5th each year. This date offers a chance to acknowledge and celebrate the remarkable achievements of volunteers and to reflect on the impact of volunteerism on society. At CSPS we recognise and appreciate the diverse passions and talents everyone brings to the act of volunteering. Across 2024 we have had around 90 family and community members volunteer as part of a school event/activity, contributing in many different to improving student outcomes. Volunteers have helped in classrooms, on excursions, at Snack Shack and Soccer Shack, as part of our School Association committee, at the Disco, Quiz Night and Colour Run, supporting 5/6 Sport, at various carnivals and lots more! This week we recognised and thanked our volunteers with a special morning tea. To all of our volunteers, thank you for making a difference!
ABC Giving Tree Appeal
On Monday 9th December, our SRC will be holding a fundraiser for the ABC Giving Tree Appeal. Choose your own theme and free dress in anything you would like. Pyjamas, Christmas clothes, favourite character, you name it. We are asking all students to please bring along a gold coin to support this great cause. Poster designed by Julia and Archer.
Assemblies
We are looking forward to celebrating 2024 with our families at Assemblies over the next 2 weeks. We will have our Celebration Assemblies (K-2 9:30am,, 3-6 2:00pm) next Tuesday 10th December, and the Year 6 Leavers Assembly will be on Wednesday 18th December at 1:30pm. Please remember to book in for these Assemblies – one adult for every child at the Celebration Assemblies and up to 4 guests for each Year 6 student at the Leavers Assembly.
Pizzas on the Domain
Finally this week, don’t miss out on our annual Pizzas on the Domain event, organised by our School Association. This will be on Thursday 19th December from 5:00pm and is a great opportunity for families to relax together.
Best wishes,
Susan Jeffery

Class News
Music
This term we have been focusing on music notation. The K-2 classes have been developing their understanding of how music is written down. Students in Grades 3-6 have been composing their own pentatonic melodies and writing them on the music stave. The Marimba Ensemble and Choir have been rehearsing together to prepare for a performance in Assembly.
Year 1/2K
Buddies
With our buddy class we asked the question “how can art help us connect to place”. We read the text Before the Mountain Had a Name by Fiona Levings and made connections to how kunanyi/Mt Wellington has changed and will change in the future. Students participated in four different activities across the two classrooms: making salt dough fossils, painting rocks with a special place, imagining the mountain in the future and finger knitting. Students demonstrated excellent cooperation, engagement and effort into the activities. A special thank you to Amy for coming along and helping to support the activities on the day.
