Principal's News
Dear Families,
Thank you and farewell to Miss Voss
This week we celebrate the lengthy and distinguished career of Shaneen Voss, our School Business Manager. Shaneen began working in the Education system 40 years ago and started at Campbell Street in 1991, this year marking 33 years of service to our school. Shaneen’s dedication to CSPS is unsurpassed. While Shaneen’s role is often “behind the scenes,” the work she carries out is essential in keeping our school operating smoothly. Shaneen is our very own encyclopaedia of facts about Campbell Street Primary, it’s history and needs over many years. Shaneen has worked tirelessly in prioritising the heritage listing of our school site and in maintaining our school to a meticulous standard. Our school community wishes Shaneen all the very best as she moves on to a new stage in life and we hope that retirement brings new adventures and plenty of time to relax.
Chess
Last week, James from Black Square Chess ran a 'Come & Try' session for close to 50 CSPS students. We all honed our problem-solving skills, learnt some strategic moves and had lots of fun.
This fabulous crew represented our school proudly at the Interschool Chess Tournament held at Sacred Heart College recently. It was wonderful to see them being so supportive of each other and displaying great sportsmanship throughout the day.

Class News
Kinder/Prep
In Kinder/Prep this term we have been learning about special places in HASS.
Earlier in the term, we talked about the importance of place and Country to Aboriginal people. We have incorporated an Acknowledgement of Country into our morning routine.
We then began talking about the kinds of places that are special to us and our families. Each child chose a place that was special to them and created a painting of the place. They explained why that place was special to them.
Following this, we began discussing how we can take care of our special places. These conversations connected well to our focus value at the time, Respect. Children then explained how they can care for their chosen special place.
We then asked our Grade 3/4 buddies to come and help us build our special places out of boxes and other recycled materials. They all did an amazing job helping our special places come to life!
To conclude and celebrate our learning about special places, we went on an excursion to the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery. Here we visited the Tasmanian Aboriginal and Tasmanian animal exhibits, the Antarctic exhibit, and the mapiya lumi exhibit. These exhibits allowed us to explore Tasmania, a place that is special to all of us, in a variety of ways.
Year 1/2FT
The 1/2FH students have been hard at work creating their own information posters about an animal of their choice. They first had to do some research. They looked through books, videos and websites to gather information. Then, they chose five facts to write up and include in their poster. The students made sure to include the key features of information writing in their poster, such as a title, subheadings, a labelled diagram of their animal and photographs. Of course, the students finished up their project by adding some creative décor.
Assembly Certificates
Congratulations to all students who received Respect Certificates during Assembly on Tuesday 17th of September.
