Dear Families,
Values Focus
Next week we begin a Values Focus on Respect. We constantly support students in developing respect for others, for our environment and for self. We are all part of a very diverse school community in which we value and respect everyone. It is one of our school strengths that we welcome and respect students and families from a vast range of backgrounds and cultures. We celebrate inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. In acknowledgement of the strength of our diverse school community we are proud to announce that we have settled on a new school motto. With suggestions coming from students, staff and community members, we have combined ideas into
Everyone Belongs, Everyone Learns.
You will see our new motto appearing soon as part of our school logo. Prior to this, we will be running a design competition for students
Book Week 2024
This is coming up next week! Our annual Book Week Parade will be held at 9:00am on Tuesday 20th August, on our Netball Court. All students are encouraged to dress up as a character from a book (not superhero costumes please). This year’s Children’s Book Council of Australia theme is Reading is Magic! We look forward to a magical, fun day.
Book Fair
In conjunction with Book Week, we will also be holding a Scholastic Book Fair throughout the week, with bargain priced books for sale in our Library. Could be great Christmas gifts! The Book Fair is open daily 2:30pm – 3:15pm during Book Week.
Science Week
This week we celebrated Science Week with an Open Afternoon for families, during which we showcased a variety of rich learning experiences in Science. Students presented activities ranging from slime and spaghetti structures to robots and light experiments. Thank you to the many family members who came along to share in our learning.
Eco Warriors
Well done to our Eco Warrior group who ran a very successful Bake Sale yesterday, raising money for recycling containers and other environmentally friendly products.
Student Representative Council
Congratulations to this group of CSPS students who have recently been elected to our Student Representative Council as Term 3 and Term 4 Members. This group works hard in raising awareness of important local and global issues, in raising funds for school items and charity organisations, and I giving all students fun events to join in! In the photo below we have Jean, Ella, Amy, Max, Julia and Archer (absent – Arlo and James).
Hats
A reminder that, with September approaching and UV rates rising, we are almost in hat wearing season again. From Monday 2nd September, all students will be required to wear a sun safe hat (not caps) for outside activities during the school day.
Best wishes,
Susan Jeffery
